Did you know there are things you can do to help your child enjoy oral hygiene? Well, it’s true! This can help you avoid the temper tantrums and the whining fits that are involved in asking your child to brush and floss. The more enjoyable the oral hygiene routine is, the more your child will like caring for their smile. So, our dentists, Drs. Gurr, Jensen, and Nagori, would like to help you make oral hygiene fun for your child by encouraging you to do the following things:
-Let your child use fun oral hygiene tools: There are many toothbrushes and toothpaste that can make oral hygiene fun for your child. In fact, there are tools that have many different characters and superheroes on them as well as different types of toothbrushes, like electric toothbrushes. Take your child to the store and have them pick out their favorite tools.
-Make oral hygiene a fun family activity: When your child brushes, you should brush. You could even get the family dog involved! The dog would need its own brush, of course. To make things even more fun, turn on your family’s favorite two-minute song and dance and sing along as you brush!
-Make oral hygiene a game: Tell your child that the more they brush, the more bubbles they create in their mouth. See how many bubbles they can make! You can also use a timer to see who can brush for the entire two minutes. It might be tough!
